Minoxidil 15% – The Ultimate Hair Loss Treatment?

If you’ve been losing hair for a while, or if you’ve just noticed the first signs of hair loss, you’re probably wondering what to do about it. There are two basic types of hair loss treatments you can try: a topical treatment, such as lotions that you massage into your scalp, and medicines in tablet form.

The earliest approved and laboratory-proven topical treatment for hair loss in men and women was minoxidil. When minoxidil first came out, it was available as a 2% solution and there was no other choice. This was okay for some people trying to regrow hair, but not strong enough for those who lost their hair long ago to have any major effect on serious hair loss. Later on, manufacturers began creating new versions in their laboratories, and struggled to formulate minoxidil to be stronger than a 5% solution.

Minoxidil now comes in solutions as strong as 15%, but with the added ingredient of Azelaic Acid. This chemical attacks the scalpular DHT which causes hair loss in men, meaning you’re giving your hair loss a one-two punch. Right now, the 15% solution is the strongest Minoxidil treatment you should use and remain medically safe.

There are many other hair loss treatments available on the market, but Minoxidil is the only proven topical treatment around.

You must be wonder what kind of results can you expect from using Minoxidil. Your results depend on many factors, such as how much hair you’ve lost and how long you’ve been using hair replacement medicines. The truth is, if you’ve been losing hair for 10 or 20 years, then you’ll probably see some regrowth from Minoxidil 15%, but don’t expect to regrow a full head of hair. If you’ve been losing your hair for about 5 years or so, you can expect better results because fewer hair follicles have atrophied (died off).

In general your results will vary, and this applies to Minoxidil 15% and any other hair loss treatments you try. Some people will just respond better to a specific treatment.

If you’re serious about regrowing hair, it’s a good idea to experiment with a treatment before you can be sure that it’s going to work for you. A bottle of Minoxidil 15% is about $35, and could very well reverse your hair loss, so it’s worth trying.
